Torquay care home manager recognised in prestigious awards
Leanne Bovey, registered manager at Westbrooke Grange based in Torquay, has been named as the winner of The Care Home Registered Manager Awards in the Great British Care Awards for the South West.
Leanne was nominated for the work she has done since early 2020, leading a service which supports people with complex disabilities; a role she took on just before the first lockdown.
Westbrooke Grange is operated by Modus Care, part of Salutem Care and Education.
In the nomination submitted to the judging panel, a colleague said: “Leanne is a fantastic manager, a great leader and motivator. She deserves an award as, despite the challenges she faces on a daily basis, she is never indifferent to the needs of others. In fact, she perseveres through adversity with commitment, kindness and an open mind to offer individuals a home in which they can feel safe, secure, respected and supported.”
Another colleague said of Leanne: “Since taking the role of registered manager at Westbrooke Grange, Leanne has achieved what can only be described as incredible results. She arrived like a whirlwind of enthusiasm, with ideas, drive, ambition and unfaltering dedication to provide the best possible outcomes for the people she supports.”
The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding work within their field.
Leanne Bovey said: “It was a real honour just to be nominated for the Great British Care Awards, and then to win was absolutely incredible. I couldn’t do it without my lovely team. They make coming to work a pleasure and every day I am inspired by their passion.
“The work we do supporting people with complex needs in Torquay is so valuable. During the pandemic it was sometimes very difficult, but it is incredibly rewarding, and I love doing it.
“I’d like to say thank you to my colleagues for nominating me for this award.”
Leanne will be invited to attend the national finals of the Great British Care Awards in March 2022.
John Godden MBE, CEO of Salutem Care and Education, said: “On behalf of the whole Salutem family, I’d like to congratulate Leanne for this extraordinary recognition.
“She is clearly an inspiration to her colleagues and the people she supports. This award is well deserved, and I wish her the best of luck for the national finals.”
