After many years of service on the Committee of Management of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows, husband and wife Bro. Lance and Sis. Della English are finally retiring.

Their membership of the Oddfellows Friendly Society, which extends back over 50 years, will be continuing though, and so their association with the organisation will endure.

Lance and Della, who live in Carbis Bay and are both keen gardeners, were presented with a selection of perennial plants, planter and a thank you card to mark the occasion.

Bro. Bill Cook, the Oddfellows Provincial Grand Master said, “Lance and Della have served the Society loyally down the years and have brought much valued experience to the management of the District.

"I am very grateful to both of them for their stalwart commitment and those elected to replace them now have some fairly large shoes to fill! Thank you Lance and Della, and Della  of course, also having served as a Trustee.

"I and other members look forward very much indeed to seeing and welcoming them both at future events and are glad they will continue to enjoy the benefits of membership.”

Bro. Lance responded, “Thank you for the gift, kind words and messages sent to us from all the members of the Oddfellows. Della and I have been members for many years and our asociation as proud members of the Friendly Society will continue.”

Meeting for a variety of formal and relaxed social activities in Plymouth, Redruth, Truro and other locations and with all the benefits of a long-established friendly society established in 1810, the Oddfellows always welcomes new members of all ages and genders.

All enquiries should be directed to the Provincial Secretary, Bro. Peter English on 01209 200810, by email to peter.english@oddfellows.co.uk , by post to the District Office at The Oddfellows Hall, 49 Green Lane, Redruth TR15 1LL or via the Oddfellows website: https://www.oddfellows.co.uk/ where there is a wealth of information about the society and the many benefits it offers its membership.
