Conservative Party celebrates the opening of their new campaign headquarters on Honiton High Street
East Devon's MP, Simon Jupp, and senior local Conservative Party officials have celebrated the opening of a dedicated campaign headquarters on Honiton’s high street.
Since the Liberal Democrats closed their high street office a few days after the by-election, the Conservative Party is the only political party to have a high street presence in the new Honiton & Sidmouth constituency, which also includes Cullompton, Seaton, Ottery St Mary, Axminster, Beer, Colyton, and Dunkeswell.
The new Honiton & Sidmouth constituency was created by the independent Boundary Commission for England after the East Devon and Tiverton & Honiton constituencies were abolished.
The new office at 49 High Street in Honiton is home to party staff and volunteers working on the campaign to elect Simon Jupp, the current MP for East Devon as the Member of Parliament for Honiton & Sidmouth at the next election.
Simon Jupp, Member of Parliament for East Devon and Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Honiton & Sidmouth said; “Home is where the heart is, and I am proud to stand in the constituency I live and have known all my life. After the Liberal Democrats abandoned their office on Honiton High Street just days after the by-election, I was determined to demonstrate that I wouldn’t ever take our towns and villages for granted. Shortly after I was first elected in 2019, I opened a constituency office, and I firmly believe your MP and their hardworking team should be available to the public. I have a proven track record of delivering action, not just words in Parliament, and I am out and about every week discussing the issues that matter in our communities.”
Richard Collins, Chairman of Honiton & Sidmouth Conservative Association, said; “On behalf of the Association, I am delighted that we have opened this new Constituency Association office in such a great location on the High Street in Honiton. Our new office, located in what is almost the geographic centre of the new Honiton & Sidmouth parliamentary constituency, will provide a focus and base from which we can look forward to championing, helping, and supporting our fantastic candidate, Simon Jupp MP, to win for the Conservatives whenever the general election comes. We have many members and volunteers who will provide that bedrock of support, in terms of local endorsement and activity, but new members will always be welcome to join our organisation in our important mission going forward.”
