Keira Wylie, the Head of PE at Teign School in Kingsteignton, part of Education South West, was shortlisted for Secondary Subject Leader of the Year at this month’s TES Schools Awards.

The TES Schools Awards recognises the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary.  The shortlist was compiled by a panel of expert judges, including school leaders and experts.

Ms Wylie and Lucie Wagner, the Head of School at Teign travelled up to London this week to attend the awards ceremony.  Although it was not a ‘win’ this year, being shortlisted was a huge achievement as there were 20,000 nominees.

Teign School is well known locally for its dedication to all aspects of school sport and was recently awarded the School Games Gold Mark.

Lucie Wagner, Head of School at Teign School said:

“Everyone at Teign School is so incredibly proud of Ms Wylie for making the shortlist for Secondary Subject Leader of the Year.  Attending the awards ceremony with her was an incredible experience and she is definitely a winner in our eyes!”

Matthew Shanks, CEO of Education South West said:

“I know everyone at Education South West will want to offer their congratulations to Ms Wylie for making it on to the TES Awards shortlist, which is no mean feat.  It’s evident how dedicated she is to her subject and her students, and I hope she had a wonderful evening in London, she thoroughly deserved to.”
