Plymouth Active has launched a new series of free taster sessions to help local people living with Parkinson’s to get into therapeutic swimming.

Starting this month, the Good Boost programme will be delivered by specially trained swimming instructors and is meant as a fun and inclusive way for people living with Parkinson’s to get active.

The next free taster session is on 18 March from 2pm-3pm at Plymouth Life Centre, 40 Mayflower Drive, Plymouth, PL2 3DG.

Depending on the interest from the local community, more free classes may be provided in the future.

No previous swimming experience is needed and participants can watch an instructor from the viewing area before deciding if they want to take part. Relatives, carers and friends are also welcome to join the tasters, or stay for a coffee and a chat after the session.

Heather Worth, Area Development Manager for the South West at Parkinson’s UK, said:  “We are really excited to offer this opportunity to people with Parkinson's in the Plymouth area and hope these free taster sessions will generate interest so we can put more activity on going forwards in partnership with Plymouth Active at The Life Centre."
