Queen to attend Margaret Thatcher's funeral
The funeral of Lady Thatcher will take place on Wednesday 17 April and will be attended by The Queen, it has been announced.
The funeral ceremony, with full military honours, will take place at St Paul's Cathedral in Central London, following a procession from Westminster.
Buckingham Palace said The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, will attend the service.
A spokesman at Downing Street said the details had been agreed at a "co-ordination meeting" between Lady Thatcher’s family and Buckingham Palace.
The 87-year-old former prime minister died “peacefully” on Monday, after suffering a stroke while staying at the Ritz hotel in central London. She had been staying at the hotel since being discharged from hospital at the end of last year.
