Heavy rain causes a number of flooding incidents in Plymouth
Fire and Rescue crews attended a number of flooding incidents last night after heavy rain hit Plymouth.
Two people had to be rescued from their car in Gdynia Way, Prince Rock, Plymouth after it became stuck in floodwater.
One fire appliance from Plymstock attended and crews rescued a man and a woman from the vehicle uninjured.
Crews also attended a property in Citadel Road in The Hoe area where rainwater was found to be coming into a property and activating the fire alarm system.
One fire appliance from Plymstock attended. Fire crews confirmed rainwater was affecting the electrics of a property. They isolated the electricity supply and identified the source of the leak.
In Mersey Close, Deer Park, Plymouth, the Fire Service received a call from Police reporting flooding inside a property. One fire appliance from Crownhill attended.
Fire crews confirmed rainwater was coming through the bathroom ceiling of the property. They made the property safe using a ladder for access.
In Stuart Road, Stoke, Plymouth, the Fire Service received a call reporting rainwater coming into a domesic property. One fire appliance from Greenbank attended.
Upon arrival, fire crews requested a second fire appliance from Greenbank for additional crew and the aerial ladder platform from Crownhill for access to the roof.
Crews confirmed a three storey mid terrace building which, due to a recent fire, has a large hole in the roof where the salvage sheets had blown loose. A large amount of rainwater was entering the property.
Fire crews conducted a salvage operation and set up lighting. Police were requested to attend for traffic control whilst the aerial ladder platform accessed the roof to make it waterproof using small tools and safety at height equipment.
Today's forecast is for dry weather, cloudy with sunny intervals but rain storms could return on Sunday and Monday.
