Police call for witnesses to Plymouth stabbing

Plymouth police are investigating after a man in his twenties suffered stab wounds in an incident in Staddon Terrace Lane in the city.

The incident took place at around 1pm today (Monday 5 August). A number of police vehicles and ambulances attended the scene.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to hospital by ambulance where it was confirmed that he had received three stab wounds to the shoulder, abdomen and thigh. His injuries are not thought to be life changing or life threatening.

The man was discovered at a bus stop opposite Plymouth train station at around 1pm on Monday 5 August. 

Police have cordoned off an area of pathway and grass which is being treated as a crime scene, though local roads remain open.

Detectives will now begin to carry out a number of enquiries to establish what happened.

A police spokesman said: “It is very early in the investigation and it is still being established exactly what took place and how many people we are looking for.

"We are keen to hear from members of the public who may be able to assist us with our enquiry. If anyone was in the vicinity of North Road West and surrounding streets around 12.30pm to 1pm and saw anything unusual please call us with that information.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone running off from Staddon Terrace Lane towards the direction of Patna Park or Bayswater Road and ask them to call police on 101.”
