Land and Sea Exhibition at The English Gallery, Tiverton
A mixed exhibition featuring dramatic and thought provoking sea and landscape paintings by Ruth Gillbanks, Claire Lucas and Sarah Ruthven alongside a lovely collection of ceramics, glass and jewellery.
As an abstract expressionist landscape artist, Ruth Gillbanks creates vibrant, atmospheric paintings that are full of energy and colour, immersing you in the seascapes they are depicting.
Tiverton based artist, Claire Lucas takes her inspiration from the surrounding landscape and places she visits in Devon. She enjoys working in charcoal and skilfully uses it to produce dramatic tonal pieces that evoke an emotional response.
The third artist exhibiting is Sarah Ruthven, a "plein-air" oil painter who abstracts the landscape with colour and is drawn to wild places like the west coast of Cornwall, the Sussex coast line and the undulating and expansive South Downs. Sarah's paintings are lyrical, hazy and luminous - sensitive invitations into land and light.
The gallery will be open Monday - Friday from 10am - 5pm and Saturday from 9.30am - 4pm.
