Nature, play, fire and fun
Mud, magic and marshmallows are all on the menu at Cofton Holidays’ brand-new Forest School, now open and welcoming young adventurers in the heart of Devon.
Tucked beneath the tree canopy of Cofton’s private woodland, this two-hour immersive experience invites families to unplug, reconnect and explore nature together. Led by a qualified forest school leader, sessions are packed with fire lighting, marshmallow toasting, woodland crafts and den building – the kind of hands-on learning that kids dream of and remember for years.
Chris Jeffery, Director at Cofton Holidays, explained:
“Families come here to escape the noise of modern life. The Forest School gives them a chance to slow down, reconnect with each other, and enjoy the moment.”
Perfect for children aged 3 and up, the sessions run twice weekly during school holidays (every Monday and Friday), and grown-ups are warmly encouraged to join in. From making wands and tree cookies to crafting with pine cones and old ropes, children learn resourcefulness and respect for nature. The school follows leave-no-trace principles, uses only natural and recycled materials, and is rooted in Cofton's wider eco-ethos.
The Forest School builds on Cofton’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, joining initiatives like solar-powered facilities, renewable heating, wildflower meadows, and a newly installed beehive supporting local pollinators. This green leadership has helped earn Cofton accolades including 27 consecutive David Bellamy Conservation Awards and the Sustainability Award at the FSB Awards.
Backed by national research linking outdoor learning with better focus, confidence and wellbeing, Cofton’s Forest School offers an enriching, muddy, memory-making adventure in the woods.
Tickets are £12.95 per child (adults free). Book early and bring wellies.
